The new facility will offer approximately 17,000 sqm of specialized warehouse and service space dedicated to high-voltage batteries. The hub will be directly connected to DHL’s existing automotive logistics campus in Holtum, creating an integrated platform for battery and automotive supply chain operations. The facility is expected to become operational in early 2027.
The logistics center will support a wide range of battery-related products, including batteries for electric vehicles and battery energy storage systems (BESS) used in residential, commercial, and renewable energy applications. As demand for energy storage solutions continues to grow across Europe, the need for dedicated logistics infrastructure is becoming increasingly important.
In addition to warehousing, the facility will provide value-added services such as battery testing, diagnostics, charging, refurbishment, reverse logistics, and preparation for recycling. By offering end-to-end lifecycle management services, DHL aims to support customers throughout the entire battery supply chain while contributing to the development of a circular economy.
The strategic location in the Netherlands provides excellent access to major European transportation corridors, enabling efficient distribution across key markets including Germany, Belgium, and other neighboring countries. The site also benefits from multimodal transport connections, supporting sustainable and flexible logistics operations.
The investment forms part of DHL Group’s long-term strategy to support the energy transition, electric mobility, and sustainable supply chains. As battery production and usage continue to expand globally, specialized logistics facilities such as the Holtum hub are expected to play a crucial role in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient storage and distribution.
