Carmaker BMW Group has received final building approval for its new distribution centre at the Ostrava Airport Multimodal Park in Mošnov. The facility, which will serve as an overseas distribution hub for the automaker's parts and components, is now entering pilot operations under logistics operator DP World. The project forms the third development phase of the industrial park near Ostrava Airport, which developer Gridarch began building at the start of 2025. The new halls offer a combined 124,000 m² of leasable space, and the centre is intended primarily to supply overseas markets with spare parts and components for BMW vehicles. Even before formal approval was granted, DP World had so-called early access to the halls, allowing it to install racking systems, warehouse equipment, and IT infrastructure ahead of schedule. According to a representative of DP World Czech Republic, roughly a year and a half of commercial and implementation groundwork preceded the start of operations. Part of a larger multimodal complex The distribution centre is linked to the wider Ostrava Airport Multimodal Park, which Gridarch has been developing since 2018. Following completion of the third phase, the entire complex spans approximately 380,000 m². The site also includes a rail container terminal covering 151,000 m², enabling combined road and rail transport. Up to 750 new jobs Once fully operational, the centre is expected to employ up to 750 people. BMW selected DP World as its logistics partner for the site earlier this year, with the company handling warehousing, inbound goods, and dispatch.
